Frequently Asked Questions

  • Parking will be extremely limited at the Canmore Nordic Centre and is subject to availability March 11-17. We strongly encourage all spectators and members of the public to take our free shuttle transportation on competition days to avoid the disappointment of being turned around at the venue. We anticipate there will be NO AVAILABLE PARKING DURING COMPETITIONS ON MARCH 14-17. If you are arriving at the venue outside of competition times (i.e. late at night or on March 11-13) then it is likely that there will be some available public parking.

    Note: all vehicles parking at the Canmore Nordic Centre require the Alberta Parks 'Kananaskis Conservation Pass'. If you do not already have Kananaskis Conservation

  • Section heads will contact each volunteer with their start time and location in advance of their shift. Note that all volunteers are required to check-in at the volunteer office prior to their shift so please leave extra time when arriving.

  • Layers are your best bet here in the Canadian Rockies! Often volunteers are switching between being active and being still... not to mention we could have 4 season sin one day! So plan to pack a toque, mitts, and a buff and bring your extra jacket.

  • There is no Tre-order available for jackets. The blue World Cup volunteer jackets will only be available for pick up in-person, on pre-event pick-up dates and during event.

  • No. There are a wide variety of volunteer jobs/roles that do not require an officiating level certification, and there are a number of jobs/roles that do require If you are passionate about Biathlon, the Entry Level course is a great way to immerse yourself in the sport, gain more knowledge and set yourself up for success as a volunteer! Biathlon Canada delivers the Entry Level course and it is completely online. Visit vwww.biathloncanada.ca/events for more information on upcoming courses.

  • All are welcome to volunteer! However, we ask that children under the age of 12 are accompanied by and adult. Note there are certain jobs/roles better suited to a younger volunteer than others.

  • As many volunteers know, volunteerism is often about the community and the people of that community supporting each other - but a goodie bag here and there can hurt :) We also provide lunches during the official event days as well as coffee and tea through out the day.

  • No. We have many wonderful volunteers who travel from all over the world to join our team.

  • Yes. Lunch is provided during the official competition dates as well as coffee and tea throughout the day.

  • During sign-up a volunteer is able to choose their preferred section and preferred jobs they would like work, and we will do our best to accommodate everyones requests, but please note with cannot fill 100% of request. In order to ensure that all positions are filled during the event, we ask that our volunteers keep some level of flexibility when they sign up to volunteer.
